Freestyledork, iāve changed some things in my working version and there are no problems. Iām not sure what iāve changed but i think i set the collision of the resource mesh to overlap all since the collision of the tree was larger than the volume.

Your barracks model and texturing looks top notch.
What 3D SW are you using? 3DS Max or Blender?
Also do you use Photoshop exclusively for your texturing?
Also for the normal maps etc, do you use any sculpting program like ZBrush?

I finished the Barracks Model (Stage 5).
I will move on with the rest of the Stages as well as a model with destruction.

I know that the lot could need some more detail, but i didnt wanna push the polycount too far.

As Freestyledork already said, i use Softimage for modeling and UVW unwrapping.
Photoshop and Pixplant 2 for texture work.
Also Mudbox for painting and organic stuff.
I just grab pictures from the web and create tileable textures out of it.
From a single Diffuse Texture i create all other textures.
The Ambient Occlusion Map is baked out in Softimage and multiplyed on top of the Diffuse Map in PS.
For the Floor (Grass) i painted in Mudbox several Layers and use the eraser to let Layers shine through.
For fine to medium bumps/normals i usually use textures since a normalmap is anyway just fake and flat.
Modeling such details would be absolute overkill.
I do that only for Displacement Maps. And on top of that i use Normalmaps.

Iāve just pushed some changes to my branch (located ), these changes include:
Camera no longer experimental, renamed to BP_RTS_Camera_Pawn.
Construction now implemented by default, currently only for barrracks (with old models).
Default Playercontroller is UpgradeController so you can use upgrades. (Try pressing K without or K/L with a building selected).
ConstructionProxy now implements I_Interaction so it behaves like a building.
So basically iāve integrated 's awesome work in what we already had, added upgrades and tweaked a few things. If time permits i will tweak and organise some more tomorrow and add more comments.

Maybe wait until tomorrow, i will probably add some more things and then itās ready to go!

Looking for input on the art direction⦠I was looking around for concept art and came across some models that match the exact style I was looking for. One questions to the programmers!
Does it make sense to include the ground plane or will it be in the way? I mean will it match with the terrain mesh?? Or how is this handled?

Bad news again, i tried changing the preview building but now it crashes again
You can find the failing project , let me know if it is working for you. Iāve tested with 4.5.1, downloading 4.6 now to see if itās working there.

When i spawn BP_RTS_PreviewBuilding in the controller at beginplay there are no problems, but upon restarting the project it crashes. You can give it i a try if you want to reproduce the crash.

I donāt think you need to include that, we could change the texture based on surrounding terrain but not itās shape.

Iām not sure you want to merge my branch with master just yet because of all the errors and crashes. It should be safe, and if it doesnāt crash for you you can go ahead and merge but keep in mind it could go wrong.

@Freestyledork: The models that you posted is fine for this project.
@: It does crash with 4.5.1. Tried with 4.6.0 (from Git) but failed to open because of VictoryPlugin. So i removed the plugin just to see if the project opens but as expectedā¦crash.

Thanks for trying ryanjon, I compiled the plugin for 4.6 (launcher) and the result is the same. There were some issues with pins in the constructionmanager getting disconnected when i opened the working version in 4.6. Iāll post this on the answerhub :\

Pushed the missing Barrack assets into git a minute ago. This includes the 5 static meshes (UV mapped) for the Barrack stages, dummy material and dummy texture.
I wont be able to put in any work in the next couple of weeks. Got in a bike accident and twisted my wrist (cannāt hold a mouse ). However I will watching this thread everyday and possibly reply (in limited number of words).
