The Fortnite lobby is getting an update! Every island will soon be able to have a unique background image, either created with third-party tools or using the new Photo Mode Capture Mode.

In preparation for the v26.30 update, we’ll ask you to upload a lobby background image as part of the publishing process in Creator Portal.

The preview overlays appear to be wrong. Should we expect lobby images to match the previews once the left handed layout is released, or will the preview overlays be changed sometime between now and v26.30?

Example:

This is a lobby image I captured via the in-game screenshot tool.

The in-game and Creator Portal overlays show it lining up fine…

…however that is not the case when viewed in-game.

Lining up a screenshot taken in the lobby with BR’s whole backplate image reveals that lobby images don’t cover the entire floor, as seen here:

Lobby images which do line up correctly in-game appear misaligned when previewed on the Creator Portal.

Also, though unrelated, the in-game overlay preview is affected by safezone settings:

Will there be options for animated lobby backgrounds?

Also, I noticed that if there are devices like Mutator Zones in the image, they are not hidden.

Does it use the entire shot, or does it zoom in and discard some of the outer regions? I made mine manually using the template in the documentation and a screenshot from a replay, but can’t test it yet.
