Combining Terrestrial Laser Scans & Drone Images

So I’m having trouble merging the drone images with our laser scans. The project is a race track, so it’s very flat, but a large surface area to cover. The drone images we’re taken automatically and align perfectly together. Just merging the laser scans and drone images is causing us issues. I’ve tried using control points by selecting them in the photos from the drone, then selecting the same control points from the laser scanner (Although can only use 1 image).

Looking for some tips and advice for this type of data set. I’m concerned it may be due to the fact that the surface is very flat and there isn’t a whole lot of 3D parts for both data sets to merge to.

Laser Scan Alignment:

Hi,

What happens when you try to align after adding the control points? How many control points did you try? how many scans and images did you confirm on each control point? Did you get any components at all with a mix of scans and images?

So we used 9 large targets on the ground, and I picked the control points from the drone images, then picked control points from the laser scans as well. However, in the laser scans I could only select control points from 1 image provided. When I run the alignment, it just splits up into 2 components, the drone images and the laser scans. No mix of images and laser scans
