Myself, Lawy, TheBonnieKiwi & Uta have been working on a new version of Colour Switch for the past few weeks in UEFN.
From the original version we’re now using custom made tiles, we’ve switched design to be a giant room with a familiar face chilling “playing” the Colour Switch game, right now Peely just chills, but soon he’ll be much more animated and will provide random events to the game, such as him raging and hitting the table, causing everyone to go flying or swiping everyone to one side of the board!
Mechanics are now working through verse with easily customizable timings to help us balance games easily
There’s still a lot of progress to be made, such as custom sounds, better HUDs, spectate area, purchasables, vehicle rounds etc… but will keep this post updated more frequently
The rooms design is starting to take shape, updated the walls, ceiling material and adjusted the lighting, we’ve also placed our area where the spectate area will be (Left shelf)
Here players will initially spawn, spectate if they’re eliminated, see their achievements/quests and purchase things
We’ve also set up an area where vehicles will be showcased for the vehicle round purchasable, player that purchases the round can flick through different cameras of vehicles and will select one they’d like to use for the next round (will share demo one fully implemented)
Also working on the custom idle animation for Peely (thanks to Yucy), here’s an early early look, will soon begin on other animations for his random events too
In the spawn we’re using holographic text to display each area you can see or do something, such as achievements, quests, or afterlife activities.
The afterlife activities can be played when you are eliminated during a round, they’re simple as you most likely wont be in them for too long, the activities include Free Roam, Bookshelf Parkour, Mini Racetrack, Ceiling Fan game (name tbd) and target practice.
We’ve also begun the vehicle round selector, you’ll first need to purchase the modifier, then you’ll be able to use on screen buttons to either cycle between vehicles, select the vehicle or cancel (almost ready to implement, will share soon)
It’s been 2 weeks since last post and a lot more has been complete such as parkour afterlife activity, vehicle selection and new difficulty level ui.
Afterlife Activities:
The bookshelf parkour, players have to reach the top to complete the course, people still alive playing on the board will be able to see these players as well as players on all other afterlife activities.
The ATK Track is a fun little track that players can drive around, when they teleport they’ll spawn inside their own ATK, may give rewards per lap players complete.
Other Afterlife Activities are almost complete such as Free Roam that will give players some items to fly and move around the room freely, the basketball hoop and the ceiling fan game (name tbd) where players will need to jump over wires while trying not to fall off
Spawn layout:
Our layout is pretty much ready for where everything will be in spawn, design isn’t finished but this gives a rough idea on what everything looks like, including an Etch a sketch which will change hourly showing a new challenge for players to complete.
Alive players will now be able to visually see how difficult their game currently is, the higher the level the faster tiles will drop from the colour being selected, there will either be a custom sound or visual that’ll make players aware difficulty has increased. (Some stuff you may see in video is TBD / Incomplete)
Vehicle Selection:
For only a certain amount of gold players can purchase the vehicle round, there’s 5 different vehicles to choose from, once purchased, the next round all players will spawn in the chosen vehicle (UI is unfinished)
We plan to have this map complete with render & trailer by start of next week.
