I’ve been working on a Dune-like hall for a render and learning to use cloth simulation for two flags on the main entrance. No matter what I’ve tried, the flags keep clipping into the wall mesh behind. I’ve went through about 5 tutorials and exhausted all options, no idea what the issue is here.
I enabled environmental collision and force collision update, put a generic cube on there to see if the convex hull of the wall mesh might be the problem, tried all kinds of different collision values on the skeletal flag mesh, kinda wanna give up at this point, but it just seems ridiculous not being able to get such a basic thing to work.
Any help is appreciated.
The flags really don’t seem to collide with anything at all.
Also one thing I noticed: my hard drive starts making a weird loading noise as soon as I activate play, but only if the cloth simulation is running. If I delete these meshes it’s gone. Super strange, never noticed anything like that before…
Well you have collisions disabled and simulations disabled, so you are telling it not to react to anything…
Try swapping those on and see if anything changes.
I’m afraid I’m not quite following, could you be more specific? where did I disable both?
I tried enabling both “simulate physics” and “simulation generates hit events”, in case that’s what you meant. Exact same outcome.
Did you check the forum for answers?
There was an official epic employee post about world collision and chaos cloth with some more specifics on the interaction and setup.
