Clarification on Crowdfunding Royalties

Would like some clarification on the royalties for crowdfunding sources,as the wording in the EULA and in the FAQ section is a tad confusing to me. In the EULA an example is given, that in a multi-tiered campaign royalties will be owed on the lowest tier that provides either game access or in game items.

If for example, our campaign had three tiers:

A first tier, at £5 for an in game cosmetic item.
A second tier, at £15 for access to the game at launch.
A third tier, at £25 for two copies of the game at launch for a discounted price than at launch.

As is common with a large percentage of crowdfunded campaigns, where applicable the rewards from lower tiers are granted to consumers who purchase the higher tiers. So in this example, anyone who purchases the second and third tier, would also receive the rewards from the first tier. The confusion is where royalties would be due, would it be on the second tier, or the first tier, depending on which the consumer wishes to purchase?

In your example, each of the tiers would be wholly subject to the royalty because they all provide in-game access or benefit.

So each tier would be calculated separately based upon the number of purchases for each tier? I am still confused as to what happens if i purchased the the third tier, meaning i get two copies of the game, and the in game item, is it just a 5% calculated from the cost of that tier?

Since all of your tiers are royalty-bearing, the simplest way to calculate would be to take 5% gross of your total crowdfunding revenue.

Ah, that makes everything super simple. Thanks for clearing that up!
