CINESHOTS - Solo Animation, 3 Years Across UE 4.27 → 5.5 | 70+ Shots

Hey everyone - just released the teaser for a personal project I’ve been building for the past three years.

CINESHOTS is a non-narrative animation exploring Nordic mythology. 70+ cinematic shots - all environment art, creature design, lighting, camera work, and compositing done solo in-engine across UE versions 4.27 through 5.5.

Technical overview:

  • Started in UE 4.27 with a standard deferred pipeline, then migrated through 5.0, 5.1, 5.3, and 5.5 as Lumen and Nanite matured

  • Heavy use of volumetric fog, God rays, and atmospheric scattering for the Nordic landscapes

  • Creature design uses custom organic bark/stone hybrid materials

  • All cinematography done with Sequencer - final color and edit in DaVinci Resolve

  • Original 4-track score composed and produced by me (bass guitar and electric guitar recorded live, integrated with synths and drum programming)

By day I work in virtual production - credits include Dune: Prophecy S2 (HBO), CNN, F1, Netflix NFL, ESPN, and the Australian Open. CINESHOTS has been my personal project on evenings and weekends.
