Hi all,
I’m trying to figure out the correct workflow to be able to LiveLink/take record early stage animation into a level sequence, so I can start adding cameras and lights to the shots while the animation continues to be refined…
But ultimately I need to be able to go back and swap out that early animation with the finals once they’re ready (without having to redo all the shots).
Example:
Imagine a 1 minute scene that’s going to need 30 different shots in it to tell the story.
All character animation gets LiveLink recorded and combined into a single level sequence, so you can watch the whole 1 minute scene play out.
Now two things happen –
- The level sequence with the early animation continues to be refined by the animators (but the overall timing doesn’t change)
- Shots ie cameras and lighting start getting created using the early animation as a reference, until the finals are ready.
Each of the 30 shots will have the early animation in a sub sequence, so that cameras and lights can be added to each individual shot.
Once the final animation is ready, is there a way to go back and update the original early animation sequence once, and have that update in the sub sequence for all 30 shots?
How would you make sure the sync is right? Eg. Do you record the timecode when doing the Take Record?
Hopefully this all makes sense. I’d love any suggestions people might have, as I’m really struggling to figure this out on my own.
Thank you!
