Cine Camera View not working while on Play

Can anyone help me figure out how to maintain a cine cam’s view while the editor is in Play?

Simple scenario: a level sequence with a cine camera actor with at least two keyframes to test some sort of visible transform (e.g., location).

When hitting Play in the editor viewport, the focus is taken away from that camera. Reselecting it appears to work as the viewport then shows the camera’s initial, but now seemingly static, position.

So when initiating Play in Sequencer, nothing happens. The playhead traces along the Timeline and any keyframes are ignored as the camera does not seem to actually be engaged.

It used to be that when initiating Play, the editor’s viewport would shift focus away but it was at least possible to then reselect the desired camera in Sequencer. Once reestablished I could then use Sequencer’s cinematic viewport controls while the editor’s level is in Play. I hope I’ve described that in a way that makes sense.

Can anyone help me understand these changes and if there are any workarounds? I’ve tried various keyboard shortcuts but it seems like this is by design and can’t be worked around.

I did have a Camera Cut track in my projects, but had never before locked the viewport to them. But I just tried and it appears to work after hitting Play in the editor. I’ll need to experiment with this method when multiple cameras are set up within a given sequence but for only one camera it appears to solve my issue. Thank you again.

If I could trouble you for another hopefully quick question:

When attempting to switch the editor’s viewport to Full Screen, it’s possible to do so through the viewport menu until Play is engaged. After that, those menus disappear leaving only the shortcut F11 to toggle Full Screen. The problem is that this method only seems to work after clicking somewhere in the viewport. And the problem here is that then some random object gets selected and hitting Esc to deselect that object will then terminate Play.

I need a smooth process to simply:

  1. Execute Level Play

  2. Toggle the Editor’s Viewport to Full Screen

  3. Ensure the now Full Screen Viewport remains locked to the desired and preselected Cine Camera Actor or the Camera Cut Track

Am I missing something obvious here too? Thank you for all your help.
