I have two weeks off from college so figured i would build a map in remembrance of how much fun it was to make unreal tournament 2k3 maps back in the day.
So i have decided to theme my map around a city… Chitty city. I will try to update this thread daily with new images and updates. I wanted to prepare a map for the new ark ground vehicles but i also want to incorporate rivers like venice. Im excited!
I started today with a basic landscape and have started to draw out the mountains around the city as well as import some city buildings i made in Blender. I still need to fix the collision meshes on the buildings in Blender so they dont act as a solid block would like to get the driveways/throughs working. Also i am falling through my water on my map currently which is on the list.
Sidenote: I eventually once whole map is finished add buildings you can enter and exit as well as a custom mod to add looting in certain buildings. And make new rustic/ruin textures for buildings.
That is awesome man!!! Glad to see you are putting those building to good use. Hopefully the custom collision parameters fix your problem with the driveway/throughs.
Ok done for the night.
Here is what i have so far and tomorrow i will finish the interior of map more. I spent so long on google grabbing custom sign jpgs for certain buildings.
Started to add road flow into and out of city. And created its sister city across the ways.
Tryed to add dino spawns today along beachs but was giving me an error when testing it in stand-alone.
Started Building out today and connecting both areas. Need alot more rock/cavern/mountain areas.
Have not finished adding proper water in those screenshots its pretty much just a plane of water with no attributes assigned yet. Also this map is on hold working on a ark contest map with specialized blueprints and structures. It is purely visual as i do not yet have the knowledge to modify destructible buildings. Will get back to this map in a month or two.
I believe it would involve creating destructible meshes.
**** though i thought you were going to hue the water to make it a little greener sort of like inland ponds in reality.
I have lost all data to this map on a old harddrive unfortunately. This post is dead. Will try to create a new map with a city context again soon hopefully.
