Unfortunately, still nada. But what I’ve
noticed previously though is if I detach certain nodes, I move around with WASD freely but just in a T-pose etc. I’m not sure what to make of it.
I see that you pulled out “Get Speed”- was that the ONLY thing you took out?
This is a big step forward- we need to know that, for sure.
I have a theory that it is linked to root motion.
I wish that were true being the only one but I had to detach multiple nodes cause of errors preventing the compile.
Edit:
it looks like those errors are because you’re calling on the gun actor that isn’t there. You can reattach it but take note:
attach it after you are able to move the character (even without animation). This is to exclude the gun from further testing.
You say you are able to move again after detaching “certain nodes.”
That’s forward movement, but only if we can be certain of which nodes. We need to know which nodes those are. You can add them back in bit by bit to see which one breaks it.
Add a node → test → add a node → test
until it breaks!
Gn, thanks for the feedback Bro!
Please forgve me Im just gettin ovr being terribly ill n didnt get to hop on til now to respond.
Ill try wht u say but itll be a slow process since I still got a shitt migrains.
Hey forgive my long hiatus, I’ve been bedridden in a hosp(hospitable experience, no pun lol). But no worries I’m out and getting rest!
So I started playing around until I got the character moving again(which is AMAZING considering my absence!). But…it seems like I’ll have to recheck and rewrite from the start cause I can’t remember what I disconnected before.
Looks like it’s the ‘Get Speed’ section that’s causing the problem. I’ll delve more around here.
Hey brooo, I see why they call u Mind-Brain!!! Apparently Root Motion was the CULPRIT!!
Ok, back then I honestly did check the animations’ root motions themselves; which wasn’t ‘selected’, so I had ruled it out.
So I basically began resetting everything and had initially thought it was a problem with the 'Velocity/Speed. But upon reaching down to your POST, I decided to look into the Anim BP; was going through it with a fine-tooth comb, and BAM! Inside there> Anim Preview Editor> ‘Root Motion Mode’ was set to ‘Root Motion from Everything’ which I changed to ‘Root Motion from Montages Only’ and I started MOVING again. I didn’t put everything back as it were(ughhh just the thought) and fully tested, but it’s a start, right?!
Ok so I painstakingly tried putting most of it back again and don’t mind the outcome.
Although I still have multiple errors that need to be ironed out, for instance( 1)Reloading when mag is full or even when there’s no ammo in said inventory or 2) certain anims don’t transition smoothly, is interrupted when spamming assigned button or the camera gets misaligned/obscured during anims or with certain movements etc), it’ll take some time but I’ll fix them gradually.
I’ll keep progressing and make additions to this little project. Hopefully you and others( who’re phenomenal in this community btw) will be around to help me and others like me along the way, after all I’m just a nooby
haha!
Thanks again ,much respect, See ya soon!
