Hi all!
This is the story: a few months ago I was given a one month license for Reallusion suite, including Character Creator 5. I created a character based on the four fingered humanoid template provided by the software.
Imported it to UE5.7 and set up a night scene. In the viewport, a flare shows up coming out of the hand of the character in almost every camera angle.
The issue wouldn’t be that bad if it wasn’t for the fact that when rendered out the same lens flare shows up as nasty black squares.
Upon close inspection, we can see that there is some weird geometry coming from between the fingers in both hands, that is most probably causing the effect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtDZ-pM_u1M
Unable to inspect the original CC project, as my license expired, I spent several days after work trying to solve the issue with the help of Claude ai, until I realized that the weird geometry is in fact the usual human ring finger, which Character Creator manages in a certain way for four fingered creatures.
I decided to modify the skeletal mesh in Blender to completely delete the messed geometry, and also modify the normal texture for the finger in photoshop. It is notable how the normal map of this four fingered character is exported from CC as having all five fingers.
It turns out that the bug won’t go away, even if the pseudo finger has been deleted from the mesh and normal texture.
I ran out of ideas to get rid of this thing and i’m on the verge of scraping the project completely because of it.
Any kind of help would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance.
