I’m trying to make an endless runner game in unreal. and I followed the endless runner game tutorial on the official unreal YouTube. and I got an error where the character can’t perform dodge when I press A & D keyboard and can’t jump when i press backspace. is there any solution for the problem?
Hey @kaoru_sndjasdnka!
A few questions to get things started:
- Where are you setting/updating your can turn variable besides there? On tile overlap you should have an update as well if I am not mistaken. What does that look like?
- Are you using UE5 or UE5.1?
- What does your jump blueprint looks like?
Any additional specifics you provide may go a long way in solving your problem!
for can turn variable, i just update it in blueprint. i am using UE5.1
and and this is the jump blueprint
Hey @kaoru_sndjasdnka,
What I mean is the blueprint for your trigger that should change the variable of can turn to true, as well as the jump itself (the jump and stop jumping functions). Can we see those? Additionally in 5.1, you should be using enhanced input as the old input system has been depreciated.
Hey @kaoru_sndjasdnka,
To be more specific where in your code do you make Can Turn = True. From what you have shown so far, Can Turn is always false, so you will never turn corners/change paths.
This portion would have been set up in this video of the official Unreal tutorial series you followed:
For your jumping, specifically what does your jump function, what the action triggers, look like? Did it work at any point? If so, what changed?
We can definitely get to the bottom of this.
Thank you for your information
Hey @kaoru_sndjasdnka!
Was the above the solution you were looking for? Or was there a different solution you found?
