Chaos Cloth Simulation Keeps Getting “Suspended”

Hi guys. So I’ve been trying Chaos Cloth on UE5.4. So far, I’ve successfully imported the clothes made in Marvelous Designer to UE by .usd files. The textures, UVs, and the static meshes appear to be fine. I’ve used MetaHuman for the skeletal mesh.

Despite the clothes are rendered properly, I can’t seem to get the actual simulation working. As can be seen on the screencap, the simulation preview is “suspended”, and the button to unsuspend it is not working. Whenever I play the walking animation sequence to test the clothes, the clothes do not follow the animation. But when I hit the “Simulation Reset Button”, the clothes will get updated to match the pose of the skeleton at that very frame. It’s just like the clothes simulation is manually updated by me frame-by-frame whenever i hit the reset button.

Moreover, the clothes do not simulate as well when I play from UE editor’s viewport.

BTW the ChaosClothingSimulationFactory option is set already, as for the skeletal mesh.

Any clues of what I have missed, or remarks/checks that I should go through again? Thank you so much!!!

Found the solution. After going through the source code, turns out that you have to set the console variable “p.ClothPhysics” to 1 to enable cloth simulation.
