So for a project I’ve had to create quite a few levels with their own associated sequences for fracture destruction of some Egyptian ruins. For whatever reason when revisitng some of these levels a few days later, the engine changes how the Chaos cache is cached and plays back absolutely bugged results. The following starts with correct fracture cache that I worked on the scene initially, and second part is what it looked like upon reopening level a few days later.
How does anyone use Chaos successfully for this stuff? It animates the same in viewport which is good news for games, but for cinematics I basically would have to recreate the entire sim over again, I have not found a way to get it to playback as it did just a few days prior. The Cache manager is only ever set to Static Pose mode after initially recording it, so RECORD is not on at all. No differences were made in the scene other than creating new levels with their own Chaos sims in them.
Furthermore this happens to many of my levels that use Chas, not just one or two. Video with before and after:
Anyone ever experience this bug when working on a project with Chaos?
Is the recorded animation displayed correctly in the sequencer? It often happens that when rendering, the engine renders not the initial state of the object, but the end of the recorded animation when the object is already broken. But for the cache manager to spontaneously completely change the animation… No, I have never encountered this.
Hi thanks for responding, if you watch just any standard Chaos tutorial on YouTube that goes over the cache settings and how to set that up, that’s exactly what I’m doing, nothing special. Video up above is exactly what happens when revisiting old scenes that use Chaos cache manager. It’s as it the engine can’t remember how to properly playback the cache.
In the instance where I REALLY needed to revisit a scene and the cache was broken and behaving like this, I only could start over the entire simulation yet again, no way to fix it seemingly using the old cache.
Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I am running into a similar problem with cached cloth, where I have a cache I am happy with that plays back find in Sequencer, but when I go to render the scene, it ignores the cache and tries to re-simulate, giving me insane results.
