Changing the default PIE play shortcut from alt + p to something else spawns player in camera mode

Hi

I’d like to change the shortcut of the PIE play command to something else (ctrl + r), this way I don’t have to lift my hand from the keyboard to reach for the default (alt + p).

Every time I try to change de default from alt + p to something else and I use the shortcut, the user doesn’t spawn as a player but in free camera mode. So everything related to the player doesn’t work (walking, jumping, damage, …).

Then, when I switch back the play shortcut to alt + p, everything works perfectly.

I double checked to whole shortcut list for possible conflicting matches of my preferred shotcut (ctrl + r), but couldn’t find any.

Any ideas?

Don’t use the CTRL button, If you remap it to Alt+1 or Alt+R it works (but don’t ask me why :sweat_smile:)

P.S. You could add a shortcut instead of changing the default one, just in case someone else has to work on your machine and he’s used to default shortcuts:

You’re a life saver! As you said, does weird things with CTRL. Switched to ALT :slight_smile:
