Changing blue guy to a Mixamo Character

On this page here, Mixamo shows a quick way to replace the 3rd person blueprint blue guy with one of their characters:

Well first, as a side comment, the new interface in Unreal makes it a bit difficult to follow what they are sayying. But I used their free character pack, took a character, and followed the instructions on their page, but the new character does not animate, though the new character does move with the controls. Can anyone help with this?

After importing the mixamo char you have to retarget the animations to the new skeleton.

  • right click the …_AnimBlueprint → retarget anim blueprints → duplicate anim blueprints and retarget
  • uncheck: show only compatible skeletons
  • select new skeleton

off you go

You have to add the new animations + character to your anim bp/blendspaces ->

Wolfsblut, I did exactly that. Probably like 10 times just to make sure I wasn’t missing something. I’ll watch the video and see if that works, but even if I didn’t do that shouldn’t I be able to do the basic functions that the blue guy does like idle, walk , etc. But I’ll watch that and get back to you.

I tried following the video, but I still get these errors:

One thing that is weird also is that even though I added Speed variable in the blendspace, it still shows an error over it, and same with Is in Air? which I added as the video said. Help please? here are the pics:

Difficult to say what could be wrong -> do a double click on the error message and see where in the anim bp you get the error

Btw, you could also just use the blueprints from the mixamo package -> you just have to replace the skeletal mesh + anim bp in the character bp’s component tab

My character also stays in the t pose after retargeting the animations…I wonder what I am doing wrong?

I am having these same errors… I followed the tutorial to a T and still got this error… any suggestions?

This video shows the process too, ?v=3GgVUKcGvAY THe guy mentions at the ending that he has to repeat a step as well…i think you are all very close…

RIP Blue Guy.

You have to recreate the transitions between the jump states + readd the blendspace
