I have been having an issue with a model that I am importing from Vectorworks 2022 into Twinmotion 2022.1.2. I have assigned the cabeints and doors the same texture in Vectorworks. When I bring the model into Twinmotion, some cabinets and doors are very glossy while others are normal. Any ideas as to why this might be? Thank you!
Hello ,
Thank you for posting in the community about your material issue. Based on the image it is hard to tell if the door and other cabinet have the same material as the other ones. In the scene graph is there only one element listing that material or are there more than one?
If you click on the problematic Material/Geometry in the viewport does it select the same "layer" in the scene graph when selecting the working material?
If you have 2 different "layers" in the scene graph then you can try the following as a workaround:
- You may be able to re-apply the same texture from the working cabinets to the other one so they are identical. To do so, use the Material Picker and select the working material, then apply it by dragging the thumbnail onto the problematic material.
- You can also just modify the problematic material and turn down the reflectiveness of them to match the other material.
I assume in Vectorworks they are not exactly the same and if you confirmed they were identical, there could be a bug with the export/import process and you would need to contact the Vectorworks team for them to look at this.
Kind regards,
Vincent B.
Thank you for your response
I went back to the Twinmotion file just to double-check the problematic door and cabinet's material. When I select them, they are the same material as the other cabinets that are displaying correctly.
I will go back and check the Vectorworks file and see if there are any differences between them. There is probably something I did not noticed that was different.
Hello ,
Thank you for sending me the file and was able to identify the problem to a specific Collapse method: Collapse by Material and Collapse All are causing this behavior.
If you try to import with Keep Hierarchy the elements will look correct. If you could please contact Vectorworks for them to investigate this issue further as I believe the issue is with the Export process.
Kind regards,
Vincent B.
Okay, thank you very much for your help! I will check into that.
Just double-checked to make sure but my Vectorworks 2022 is currently up to date.
Yes, I did try exporting and using Direct-Link both. They both had the same results.
Thank you very much, Vincent! I appreciate your help.

Hello ,
Thank you for the follow-up and if you are able to send me the TM file I can take a look further to confirm the issue.
I will send you a message directly so you can provide me the file.

Hello ,
I also wanted to let you know that they did some updates to the connection with SP3 and recommend you make sure your Vectorworks 2022 version is up to date when you exported the udatasmith file. For reference here is the LINK
I assume you tried the Direct-Link method and that also had the same problem?
Kind regards,
Vincent B.
Hello ,
I wanted to follow-up as I have been looking into this further and after closer inspection it could be Twinmotion related and need to log a bug for our team to investigate.

Hello ,
Thank you for checking to make sure you were on the latest Vectorworks and for confirming the Direct-Link method also resulted in the same problem. I have updated the bug report I created regarding this behavior.
