Decided to create this character around the Metahuman Animator. The body rig and modeling/textures are all custom made by me but incorporates the Metahuman head Rig on the Top and Leg head. Was also a great project to learn how rigid bodies work as I set all those up for the wires as well so they can move with physics assets!
This is easily the creepiest and totally awesome piece of art I’ve seen on the forums in a long time. The “shoulder pad” alone is both insanely weird and rather magnificent. The color choices and facial expressions are also nothing short of mastermind level of brilliance. Just out of curiosity, how long did this project take you to create?
Thank you!! It’s hard to say how long it took because I worked on this for fun nights and weekends and I actually had a whole different finished model I felt was too clunky and started over for a more streamlined silhouette. (This was after I had already model and textured and rigged the first version lol!) If I had the concept down and wasn’t just experimenting I feel like I could’ve gotten her finished a lot sooner. I wanna say 3 months of work on each iteration? Advanced skeleton plug-in for Maya is a real lifesaver on the rigging portions, I feel like moving your character off of a T-pose and putting it in engine is really when you get the feel for your character and if anything isn’t working so speeding that workflow up is a big plus!
It was clear just looking at the project that a ton of time was invested, but 3+ months of dedication is super admirable And that time has definitely paid off with how rad Cerberbot has turned out Out of curiosity, do you plan on creating anymore characters similar to this in the future?
I hope so! I definitely got a bunch of ideas for skin/robot/head interactions that could be fun to explore just need to find the time! I’m trying to get better about posting my work online.
