Matrix Rain Runtime is a runtime code plugin for Unreal Engine 5.7 that lets you trigger a stylized Matrix-inspired digital rain effect directly from Blueprint.
The plugin is built for fast setup and practical in-game use. Enable it in Unreal, call the included Blueprint nodes, choose the rendering mode that fits your scene, and you can quickly add a dramatic cyberpunk-style effect to gameplay, cinematics, horror sequences, sci-fi levels, menu backgrounds, and interactive installations.
Included Blueprint nodes:
- Start Matrix Rain
- Stop Matrix Rain
- Is Matrix Rain Active
Included rendering modes:
- Current Screen Overlay for full-screen viewport rain
- Real 3D World Space (Text) for actual 3D glyph columns in the level
- Fast Real 3D World Space for a much more performance-friendly 3D volume effect
Feature highlights:
- Blueprint-friendly runtime workflow
- Configurable density, fade in, fade out, glyph size, trail length, fall speed, colors, opacity, and world-space volume settings
- World-space follow or anchored-in-level behavior
- Performance-oriented fast 3D mode for practical gameplay use
- Suitable for gameplay events, scripted sequences, cinematics, HUD-style overlays, and menu backgrounds
Recommended usage:
- Use Fast Real 3D World Space for the best balance of 3D look and performance
- Use Real 3D World Space (Text) when you specifically want visible 3D text glyph components in the level
- Use Current Screen Overlay when you want a full-screen stylized effect directly on the viewport
Matrix Rain Runtime is designed for developers who want a strong visual result without building the full system from scratch.
