Casting to a new actor

Currently I have a respawn script that spawns a new actor of the same MPS_MasterBP type, destroys the current one, and possesses the new one. Respawn works fine its just the player controller sets a reference to the actor on spawn by casting to MPS_MasterBP, and it refuses to cast once its respawned, maybe because of the name change?

Just confused and wondering if anyone can help.
