Hi Unreal peoples. I have been using cascade for a while now, and have found not only the conversion tool to niagara, but niagara itself insufficuent for my needs as a vfx developer that wants to make things simply, with fliipbooks, and other basic techniques. I am very dissapointed with the conversion tool thus far, and have yet to find a decent workflow for what I need niagara to do (which is essentially spawn mesh>play flipbook, and sometimes mirror particles) that is comparable to cascade, both when controlling the viewport, as well as creating a simplified workflow for basic vfx as a developer. Is there any alternative solution besides having to convert hundreds if not thousands of assets, and then manually fixing all of the elements that did not convert correctly?
Hello!
Unfortunately, there is no other method to convert from Cascade to Niagara more easily, the problem is that Cascade is the legacy version for particles, is no longer in use, Niagara is the best option for VFX, yes, it lacks some things from Cascade and it works different, yet, with UE5 the Niagara system is improving and adding some new features (like fluids as smoke or water whithin the particle system). So is best to use Niagara as default to create particles and VFX
Hope this helps!
