Can't use "Pick actor from scene" on one specific map

I use instance editable variables to control a cutscene in a level called submarine_2, but for some reason, whenever I try to pick anything, it defaults back to “None”. I tried the same blueprint on a different map, it worked. I could pick actors, but any actor with instance-editable variable that is spawned on submarine_2 just does not allow me to actually pick anything. Is this a bug? Can I somehow fix this?

EDIT: I moved the map to the same folder as Submarine_1 and it works?! What kind of spaghetti code could cause that?!

What does it list in the dropdown?

Everything you’d ask for, really. I can’t pick any of them either way

Most strange! At least it’s working anyway…

I think it might be some bug in the editor. I’ll try reporting it to the Epic, but I’m not even sure how to describe an issue this specific.
“Picking an actor from instance-editable variable doesn’t work if done on this specific map in this specific project”

Yeah if you can get it to happen in a small blueprint/map - isolated to just that, it might help too…

Hi!
Do you use sublevels or only Persistent (Window->Levels Tab)? Check if the actor with the setting and the object to be selected should be on the same map. Or you need to use a soft link.

Thanks for reply, but this is a very old post, at least relatively to my skill level. I was very new to Unreal back then and probably couldn’t answer your question anyway. There’s a big chance the problem was somehow caused by me, as I was doing a lot of things half-blindly.

In that case, please close the thread, or mark it as resolved.
