hello,
I downloaded 4.10, want to start it and I can’t
I get this error:
I don’t have VS 2015 installed, that could be the reason. gonna install it now and hope it fixes it.
cheers

hello,
that was from the Launcher, not code. the editor (from the launcher) should just work out of the box shouldn’t it?
I couldn’t install VS 2015 earlier because I needed some WindowsUpdate for that, but I’ll try it later today and I’ll let you know if that works.
cheers
Hey Chosker-
Were you able to install VS 2015 and did that have any affect on installing 4.10? If you are still unable to launch the 4.10 editor let me know if you’re using the Launcher or Source code version along with any other information you can provide.
Cheers
after installing VS 2015 the error is gone and the engine launches. still, the engine should work for anyone that doesn’t have VS 2015
I don’t know if it was because I installed VS 2015, or if it’s related to the Windows Update installs I had to do to even be able to install VS 2015 (the VS 2015 installation asked for KB2919355, which I wasn’t able to install until I installed several other Windows Update packages first)
I’m using Windows 8.1 btw. so I guess if you have the time and will to reproduce this, just take a new fresh Win8.1 RTM install and try 4.10 in it.
cheers
Hey Chosker.
It was probably resolved by the Windows update. For non-code projects, standalone VisualStudio isn’t required, but the VS2015 C++ redistributables still are. UE4 tries to install these redists automatically, but that process can fail if Windows isn’t fully updated. Updating Windows will generally fix this.
