Can't save or modify USD files on a shared network drive

Hey! We are putting some research into working with USD within our pipeline to render shots from Maya in Unreal, setting up a USD stage with different layers.
However, when I try to set up the composition, I can not create the stage or any layer on our network folder / a shared drive. It only works if i save the .usda files locally. Even moving the files over to the Unreal Project located on the network drive does not resolve the issue; Unreal recognizes the migration, imports, but when i try to further work with, say, my layers, nothing happens; not even an error message.
I found a couple of similar issue, one that appears closes is a SideFX thread from 2020 reporting similar issues with working with USD on shared drives.

Does anyone know about this? Has this issue really not resolved in 2025 or is there any known workaround?
