Hi guys Its been days since I’m trying to solve this, I got a Dazstudio avatar with animation imported as fbx into UE5.4, I also have my metahuman in it.
I want to retarget my Daz character animation to my metahuman, I go to my Daz animation sequence file, right click, “retarget animations” and then on the dialog window I read that retargeter associated a Reallusion skeleton to my Daz character? wtf?
The animation doesnt match at all and its very weird.
ANY HELP pls? this is driving me crazy.
Thanks in advance.
Ciao fr1d4yy_0,
Most likely you set the Reallusion skeleton somewhere during the import.
You can either change that, or I strongly suggest you to use IK retargeter to retarget those animations, since it’ll give you more control over what’s happening.
Uhm I didn’t see any option regarding setting skeleton during the import.
I now have temporarily fixed the issue by using the quinn mannequin fbx on mixamo and import the animation and swapping skeleton with MH. But i’m limited to just use mixamo animations and its not optimal in my case, using dazstudio animations would be much better.
Also I tried with genesis8 character instead of using genesis9 and it worked, the retargered recognized the dazstudio skeleton instead of using reallusion cc.
Hit that button at the bottom, ‘Export Retarget Assets’. That will create RTG AutoGenerated in a folder that you choose. You open that ‘RTG AutoGenerated’ and replace the autogenerated IKRig for Daz and Metahuman with the ones already in UE5.4 (assuming you activated the Daz and metahuman plugins). I hope these two pics make it a bit clearer. Look on the far right for the IKRigs I am talking about.
