Can't make 2 gamepads work for simply boxing game

Hi

I’m having real trouble making a simple multiplayer (2-player) game work with 2 gamepads. I’m making a simple 2D boxing game, with Player 1 on the left and P2 on the right. I have 2 brand new XBox controllers, and my Mac tower receives signal from both. I’m using the ‘Create Local Player’ node, set to 1, on Event Begin Play within the level blueprint. I learned this technique from YouTube and it works in the demonstration, but never for me. My game will only allow me to move/control Player 1 no matter what i do.

Do i need to make a change to the Character BPs in order to receive input from the 2nd controller? Also, in Project settings, I have split screen set to OFF and ‘Skip assigning Gamepad to P1’ Unchecked.

I’m lost. Any help is appreciated
