Can't launch UE 4.25.1 on Macbook

Cannot launch Unreal Engine 4.25.1
After clicking the launch engine button, the launcher shows loading but never loads and never shows anything but the desktop. Initially it flashed some sort of message but this is no longer coming up (don’t know the message because it would flash on the screen for 1-2 secs then disappear).

FYI, using iOS Mojave 10.14.6 on Macbook and High Sierra 10.13.6 on Macbook Air (neither will work).

Please advise.

im glad to know that im not the only one having problems with this. the only thing thats different for me, is that i have downloaded it directly to a flashdrive. i dont know if this affects the launching process or something, but it refuses to launch.
