Hello! I am on an M3 Mac Pro and trying to download the DataSmith installer for Rhino 8. I have the latest versions of everything downloaded (including rhino and Twinmotion). I am definitely using the correct installer but without fail, when launching the installer, it presents the error -
“Error installing Plugin: Could not read the installer file”
I have done so much trouble shooting, please please please help if you can.
Are you both using the latest Datasmith exporter plugin for Rhino?
Following your two reports we did some, successful, internal tests
on M3 with Sonoma 14.5 and did not experience a crash with Rhino 8 or Twinmotion 2024.1
Hi, tried to fully uninstall Rhino 8, reinstall, and tried to launch the Twinmotion plugin for Rhino.
Stil have Rhino popup saying “Could not read the installer file.”
I just figure it out, install rhino8 and datasmith plugin first, if the plugin doesn’t work, click the V8 new function on top menu and find the third button “Reset Rhino”, the plugin window will pop out.
Thanks, but don’t understand which « v8 new function » you’re talking about.
To install plutin I only double click on the file and I have no option to select.
Can you provide screenshots ?
Thanks !
Hello, I just figured out a way that worked for me. I renamed the file from .macrhi to .ZIP, then unzipped that file and the renamed the file .rhp to .macrhi, the copy and pasted that folder in the ~/Library/Application Support/McNeel/Rhinoceros/8.0/MacPlugIns, and it worked fine after I restarted rhino.
Hey there,
I have a probably minor issue with finding my installed Datasmith Plugin in Rhino 7 on Mac. Plugin installation worked fine, plugin also worked for a test. After I closed the floating window of the plugin in Rhino, I cant find it and reopen it any more. Wanted to dock in to my menus.
Its maybe a question for a Rhino forum but I also wanted to try it here, cause many google searches to my issue relate to discussions in the Epic/ Unreal Forums.
Hopefully anybody can help me out, thanks in advance
Cheers
C.
