Can't launch datasmith plugin for rhino 8 on macOS?

Hello! I am on an M3 Mac Pro and trying to download the DataSmith installer for Rhino 8. I have the latest versions of everything downloaded (including rhino and Twinmotion). I am definitely using the correct installer but without fail, when launching the installer, it presents the error -

“Error installing Plugin: Could not read the installer file”

I have done so much trouble shooting, please please please help if you can.

Thanks!

Hi, same here :man_shrugging: search in google, it no luck, I’ve not found any solution or reply.
Maybe we’ll have to wait for a fix

Are you both using the latest Datasmith exporter plugin for Rhino?

Following your two reports we did some, successful, internal tests
on M3 with Sonoma 14.5 and did not experience a crash with Rhino 8 or Twinmotion 2024.1

Can @tigrou7602 and @zamdawg
confirm the Rhino 8 build, and maxOS version.

Our product specialist suggests:

  • to fully uninstall Rhino 8 and then reinstall from scratch.
  • Download a fresh copy of the plugin → unzip file
  • Double click on Rhino 8 file from the unzip folder

@MisterSmile84 for viz

Hi,
here are the the requested infos :

  • Rhino 8 build 8.9.24194.18122, 2024-07-12 (trial version for the moment)
  • macOS Sonoma 14.5

Mac mini M2 pro (cpu 12, GPU 19)

I’ll try uninstall Rhino and then install again the twin motion plugin.

Hi, tried to fully uninstall Rhino 8, reinstall, and tried to launch the Twinmotion plugin for Rhino.
Stil have Rhino popup saying “Could not read the installer file.”

Same here, did any of you fix the issue?

I just figure it out, install rhino8 and datasmith plugin first, if the plugin doesn’t work, click the V8 new function on top menu and find the third button “Reset Rhino”, the plugin window will pop out.

Thanks, but don’t understand which « v8 new function » you’re talking about.
To install plutin I only double click on the file and I have no option to select.
Can you provide screenshots ?
Thanks !

Having the same issue. Was anyone able to figure this out? The “Reset Rhino” route did not work …
