Can't install Unreal Engine!

Hello,

I just got a new rig with an RTX card in it and am looking forward to really learning Unreal Engine on it. I have put the Epic Games launcher on it but when I try to install the engine (4.26.1) into C:Program Files/Epic Games/UE_4.26 I get an error that says:

Install Error
You do not have permission to install to:
C:Program Files/Epic Games/UE_4.26
Error Code: DP-06

I’ve checked my account, and I believe it says that it is an administrator.

Thank you in advance for your help.

It needs to be installed in a directory where it can add/change files, which can’t be done in C:\Program Files

Ahaaa, thats why i cant build or compile…? Dont i want the engine on C disk since its fast? or just not install in /Program Files?

Make sure to install Unreal on an SSD because load time for the editor will be so much faster.

C: is fine if that is your only SSD. Just make a new folder like C:/Unreal and install there.

Sometimes Windows will block a software it doesn’t know and you have to allow it to make changes. There is usually a lower right popup that says it is doing so. Clicking that will bring you to where you can allow it.
