Cant delted Grass Paint any more... Please healp :(

Im new with Unreal…
So the problem is that i cant deleted any more the painted grass.
I use the right Layer but if i hold shift and press the left click nothing happens…

nobody an idea … :(?

Are you trying to erase the grass foliage or grass material?

If the foliage, Go to “Foliage Mode”, click “Erase”, find the grass meshes you used, click the checkmark boxes of those grasses, and you should be able to erase them now.

Had that same problem as well the first time and was confused why it wasn’t working. Hope this helped you.

hey thanks for the help but i use a “landscape grass type” and in the foliage paint mode i cant finde the grass its not a foliag.

I apologize, I thought you painted it via foliage paint. Are you using procedural foliage? If so are you having trouble deleting the grass itself or do you want to delete the landscape grass type itself?

ok i maybe make alle the grass new but use your way with gras foliage but can i then place the grass in different direcetion? so that it look realistic?
How doyou set up your grass i use the tutorial from unreal page…

The way i did it was by downloading grass assets in unreal store, adding it to my project, find the downloaded grass assets in my content browser, open foliage mode and click “paint”, drag the selected grass assets into the foliage mode underneath the Foliage+, then you can start painting. Though if you want your grass to cover a whole landscape, painting it all is going to be tedious but I hope I explained it well to you and didn’t miss any steps.

You need to use Static Mesh Foliage for Foliage Mode. Otherwise there’s a good chance that you will not be able to remove them. This is a common problem/issue as of 5.0 release.


For base coverage you use a Landscape Grass Type in the material.

Next you use Procedural Foliage Spawner. This is used for large open areas generally. Places where architecture will not reside. Forests for example.

Final touches and special tweaks are done with Foliage Mode… painting. Around architecture (outside of procedurals).
