I am trying to build the leveldesignworkflow.umap from the content examples. I want to test a model I made for use with the Oculus Rift DK2. I don’t usually use the standalone launcher as it has noticeable stuttering on the rift. So I like to close UE4 completely and start the standalone .exe for a bit higher performance.
In the past, to package I would save my map as a unique name, go to package settings, maps and modes, and choose the map I saved from the top drop down. Then I would build it. But when I do this now it gives me a packaging error involving “MainFrameActions: Packaging (Windows (64-bit)): RunUAT.bat ERROR: AutomationTool was unable to run successfully.” Anytime I try to change the maps and modes setting to my custom map I can no longer even do a basic launch and receive the error message. I have tried redownloading UE4, and the various sample content.
I have this issue packaging anything in the content example map pack once it’s been modified and I want to view the results as a standalone build. I can only build the default editor map that comes up, and nothing else in 4.3 content examples anymore. I have also tried 4.4 and oddly enough, it works on the realistic rendering demo but still not the content examples pack, (realistic rendering didn’t allow me to make modified build on 4.3 before) so this might be isolated to the content examples now. Any ideas on how I can resolve this? I am not sure if this is some sort of bug.
I would say the easiest way to test this is to throw a 3d model into one of the content example maps such as leveldesignworkflow.umap, modify some of the post process volume settings, and see if you can make a development package build that shows your changes without the error message. If anyone knows what I could be doing wrong, or if this is a bug please let me know!
