Can't access variables after casting to a blueprint

So I was following Unreals UMG inventory tutorial and I am running into problems. To clarify, I recorded a video.

Hi there,

In version 4.6 a change was made to the way variables are accessed. In order to use the variable in another blueprint you need to mark it as “Visible” in your character BP (select the variable and tick the box in the details panel).

Version 4.7 will be changing back to the way it was done previously after getting feedback from users, so this is just a quirk of version 4.6.

You will not need to change the variable in 4.7 to not be visible, both ways will work again.
