So for instance if I have a mesh named Mesh_Bench, and I delete it… then attempt to rename a new resource Mesh_Bench, UE4 will not let me, saying name already exists. If I restart IDE it will let me rename new mesh to Mesh_Bench without problem.

I haven’t been able to reproduce this, but it sounds like it’s a redirector issue. Try right-clicking folder assets exist in and selecting Fix Up Redirectors in Folder after deleting asset, then rename new asset and see if same problem occurs. Thanks!

problem still exists, and reload of project didn’t solve it, but this Fix Up Redirectors did!
