Just downloaded this file: UnrealEngineInstaller-1.9.2-2361519.msi
But when it gets to the directx part of the installation i get this error message:
“Thre is a problem with this Windows Installer package.
A program run as part of the setup did not finish as
expected.”
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I would like to help but first I need some more info to clear up a few things.
The log you posted is not from the installer, it is from the launcher. The .msi file you referenced attempts to install the launcher on your system but if it fails I would expect it to roll back the partial install. Did you do anything out of the ordinary to get the partial launcher install to stay around on your system after that failure? Did you perhaps try to kill the install process before it rolled back?
What happens when you run the .msi installer again? Does it give you an option to remove? Or do you have an entry for Unreal Engine in Windows Add/Remove Programs? On Win7 you can find this in: Start->Control Panel->Uninstall a program
Note: In the future it would help with reading if you attached the log to the thread instead of pasting it in-line.
Good to know. Was the date/time stamp on the log you found the same as the time you tried to install? Perhaps it is something that was left around from another time?
We can usually track down install issues with the installer log. To get the log for the installer you’ll have to run it with msiexec from the commandline. Some quick instructions for doing this can be found here: LINK. Once you have the logs, attach them to the thread(might need to zip them up for size reasons).
