Cannot install Maya, no .exe file to install

I believe that Maya comes with UE4 for free. Or, at best, the link below is misleading. Assuming is it free, I cannot seem to figure out how to make the program work. I do have .py files in …\extras\maya_animationRiggingTools\MayaTools. I do not have any type of executable file, nor do I have the folder in my docs\maya that I have read about.

I have been researching into this for a while and must be missing something major. All I want to do (assuming Maya is free) is install it and start using the software. I am an active registered member to UE4.

Great thanks to whomever can help.

Matthew

Bummer. Thanks for the quick reply.

I’m glad you did answer! I have heard of Blender before but disregarded it as I heard far more about Maya. Downloading now.

Great community here!

Hi Matboyguy,

No, UE4 does not include Maya. It does include the “Animation and Rigging Toolkit”, which is a tool plugin for Maya.

If you wish to use the A.R.T., you will need to already have Maya by your own means.

Cheers

I might be wrong but I think that this is addon/plugin for Maya. Maya itself costs quite a bit but you can get it if you say your a student. I would also recommend that you check out 3ds max. I have only used blender (which is free and greate if you are a beginner. You can get an addon so it can export files for UE4) but I have heard both programs by Autodesk are good.
Hope this helps!

Sorry didn’t read the other guys post before I wrote my response. All three programs are good and you should check them out.

Heres the link to a guy that makes great tutorials. Their a bit hard to follow at first but the blender community is amazing. Just to start learning the UI I suggest the second link.
