I am creating a short film in UE5.5 and while I know how to create custom camera shakes, I actually want it to look and feel like I shot it all hand-held myself. What I was hoping to do was record an empty space for the whole length of the film as one take, my movements choreographed to the events in the UE5 scene, resulting in a one-shot that has the subtle feeling that it was manually recorded by a real camera operator, spontaneously reacting to and navigating the events on screen.
My plan was to export the gyro data to a CSV file from the footage I shot on my Sony FX3 and import to a blueprint for a custom camera shake, but I’m not sure if this is possible. Is there a specific way I should format the CSV file, and how should I import it? I’m still learning the program and haven’t found a definitive answer out there yet.
In the past for other videos using after effects, my method was to record a wall with tracking markers and watch the animation as I recorded, improvising camera movement based on the animation, then analyzed camera tracking data from the footage in after effects. But I figured gyro data would be so much faster and more precise. Thanks in advance!
