Can you delete files that don't appear in the content browser

I just checked the directory of my game in windows explorer. It shows a bunch of files that I deleted in UE4, but the stay on the disk for some reason. Is there a way to clean this up?

They are probably redirectors. Take a look at this: link text

And doing this, you can show those redirectors in the Content browser and fix them: link text

I tried the fix redirectors and it didn’t work. I just reset my project to a previous commit. Git is a god send.
