Can you create a 2D overhead landscape?

Hi,

I am very new to unreal engine and before I get too far in I want to know if this is possible. I would like to render a 3D landscape (for more realism) into an overhead 2D shot for physical printing. Is this even possible? The screenshot mechanism does not seem suitable for something like this as it loses all the detail. Ideally I would import this 2D image into Photoshop.

Thanks for any insight on this!

Regards

I’m not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but it sounds like using a camera component set to “orthogonal” might give you the view you want

Hey Chumble, Thank you for a response!

I am trying to essentially make a D&D board, but must more realistic using UE4. So a tight, high quality image is ideal. I am thinking just making a screen shot would lose a lot of detail and would probably require me to “stitch” the shot together to get a gaming board. So if there was a way to capture the entire map without using ScreenShots and from an overhead “2D” view that would be perfect.
