Can You Add Completely New Creatures/Models to the Game with Mods currently?

It seems the creature mods I have seen are size/color mods. Does this mean you cannot currently add in new creatures?

I would think you can… but it’s a lot of work, which is why a lot of modders won’t attempt it. Things like Animation and AI(this probably being the biggest hurdle) are just two of the things that need to be done from scratch.

And AI in this game from what I’ve heard can be sketchy, especially if you try altering existing ones with the little understanding most people have due to no documentation on the changes Wildcard have made to the engine.

Adding new models is not difficult in itself (only making them), but there is no real way to edit AI and it can be… moody.
Also adding new creatures has low stackability as you either have to edit the map and place new spawngroups or remap existing ones.

They said no crashes with importing stuff from the market, but crashes is what I get…

The DevKit is using UE 4.5. If the models are not compatible with it, it is going to crash.

It crashes importing 4.5 models as well oddly enough.

I successfully turned raptors into Bell helicopters playing around with the adk a while back. Was funny watching a helicopter hover over and start bashing against a parasaur. I gave up on that whole line of implementation when I got into the animation side. Its a lot to deal with if you aren’t doing humanoids. If you are, there are tons of free mo-cap BSV files out there that you can use with Blender.
