I can walk down this ramp, but not up, how do I fix that?
Collision: complex collision as simple.
Walkable Angle: 80 degrees.
Any ideas about what I should try and/or look for?
I made the ramp in rhino, inside this model. When I look at it through the collisions lens, in pink, it sort of looks ok?
Maybe turn on collisions to see if the collision box/volume matches the ramp angle. Possible that the collision volume or angle is different than the mesh angle or volume.
Something I do for shapes that are important to me is that for your mesh there is a “Collision->Collision Complexity” which typically is set to “Project Default”; however, you can change it to “Use Complex Collision As Simple”. This will create a collision mesh that uses the mesh “mesh” as its outline. Switching to this should give you the best chance to climb the ramps from a mesh collision perspective.
Thanks for responding. If you look above, I mark that I have already changed my collison to use complex as simple. I also changed my walkable angle.
“Maybe turn on collisions to see if the collision box/volume matches the ramp angle. Possible that the collision volume or angle is different than the mesh angle or volume.” ← can you explain more about this though? I was looking for a way to visualize the collisions other than just turning on the pink collision view in the viewport. When I pull up the static mesh it’d be great to see where/how it drew the collisions.
It’s weird bc walking down works perfectly, but I can’t walk up, it’s almost as if something is blocking me? The walkdown seems smooth…
Is the below image the “pink collision view” that you are referring to?
I have the opposite problem in that I have AI, pigs, that are/were experts in climbing vertical walls. Let me see what I did about these. Maybe this could help your situation…
I think we are talking the same thing; however, in UE4.26.2 in the character movement there is a “Character Movement: Walking → Walkable Floor Angle”. I assume this is what you set to 80 degrees?
I’m in ue5 but woops, I was using show player collision where it says lit. Not the show menu you were using check this out:
Seems like there’s collision on the bottom of the object, but not the top? I wonder if my mesh is somehow too complicated, bc it’s not just a simple ramp, I generated parts of it mathematically…
I was thinking the ramp components would look something in the spirit of the below when using “Use Complex Collision As Simple”…
So, I figured it out. I had to thicken my ramp in rhino (my modelling software) then it looks just like you described. I would not have been able to figure it out if you hadn’t shown me how to turn on the collision view so thank you so much!

Still… …remember that gravity is straight down. Not sure when that becomes an issue as you try to walk up ramps greater than 45 degrees, for example.
