I was sat thinking as you do…
Recently all i have reported is bugs with scenegraoh mainly in the uefn editor. Now some of these bugs are in editor only but cause so much lost time. For example the current state of the prefab editor window is really bad.
With these type of bugs can Epic not fix them and roll out the update asap ?
I think i speak for all devs when i say this waiting weeks for a patch update is causing so much distress and wasted time. I am unsure if it has a cost implication or other negative factors but for example the current bugs with the editor could be fixed and an update pushed solely to UEFN ? This would get the system fixed asap and would make so many devs happy.
I’m all for new systems that truly improve the main goal ie building immersive truly magical islands but at the moment 1 update is breaking something then we have to wait multiple updates for the fix.
I cannot truly think of one good thing that comes from update day (Maybe the odd api) but the majority of the time im always worried about something breaking. Even the uefn editor suffers from this. I reported a bug this was fixed but in doing so it made the process much worse. I question if this fix was tested internally.
I wanna keep going and make great experiences for players but an island that you should be able to create in a few weeks/month is taking much longer due to bugs/editor issues.
Scenegraph was suppose to be the biggest thing for uefn since forever but from a dev perspective nothing seems like its given priority and we are getting new features less than broken things due to bugs.
Its not just the editor/sg its the entire creative space. The switch device broke recently before this was proximity chat the list goes on. There is a major issue with the stability of this eco system.
I know some bugs cannot be updated until Fortnite is also but for anything sg related in editor only ie editor prefab window can this please be updated separately if at all possible.
