I’ve been strugling lately to make some decent art for a game I’m designing, and a couple of hours ago I found this art concept that it would fit perfectly the game I want to build and more importantly, I can do it myself: Geometry Wars 3 Super Sequence 1.1 Billion - YouTube
Maybe you heard about that game, it’s called Geometry Wars 3.
What’s interesting about that game is that all the ships have a very simplistic design, they are made of geometric volumes, they seem to be transparent with the edges glowing.
Also the game is full of FX and particles.
I have some knowledge about UE4, completed several tutorials, however I’m not sure if this is doable or not, I believe it is, but I’d like confirmation if possible.
You should ask ‘can I make this?’… The only limitation would be your own knowledge of math and tools used.
Every engine have some limitations, but when you ask “can (insert engine) do (whatever)” isn’t a real question. It’s a tool, it can’t make anything.
Maybe what I tried to ask was more like if UE4 has the tools required to make this job relatively fast and easy, or if I have to find some workarounds or code it myself in C++.
The harder part would be creating all those custom shaders. A lot of math involved, vertex animations etc.
If you’re good at creating shaders you can do it all using the material editor. For me it is harder than C++, but for some is pretty easy to make it.
Definitely possible, I was following Ryan Smith making a twin sick geometry war like shooter for UDK, but there hasn’t been much for updates. http://youtu.be/HE8dv-S_eYk with UE4 stuff like that is easier to make, and can look even better.
