I own a marketplace asset pack which provides and animated character by creating its own project file. Is is possible to open the asset project file, export a complete model to another project and then strip away all player control capability and add a one to two very simple animations to use that character as an NPC to serve a role? If so, could someone link me to a how-to related to this matter?
Will that give me the character model and its skeletal structure and allow me to add a degree of animation to it? Essentially, I need a service oriented NPCs that I can attach dialogue to so players can obtain items.
It should migrate any of the other files that the skeletal mesh requires, like the physics asset and probably animations as well. As for creating new animations, UE4 has a very limited ability to do character animation from scratch, you’re better off finding a way to get the character animation rig into your 3D program and creating new animations and exporting to UE4.
Thanks to each of you. I own a bunch of MOCAP (and the starter kit) animations and just want to pose the model and maybe move a hand when speaking, or stand from a chair when someone approaches- nothing big. What threw me is that the character model is not constructed in the marketplace pack. I’ll try th emigration when i get back to my desk. Appreciated!
