Hello
I had 4.81 and around 30GB of all the demo content for adding to a project.
Now I have dld 4.91 and when I add the old content to a project in 4.91 it has to be dld again
Why?
And what happens to all the content that was compatible with 4.81?
Should I just delete 4.81 and dld everything again?
What happens when you get to 5 ? Or for that matter 4.95 is this what happens?
Just continually downloading again and again ?
Clarification gladly accepted
Thank You
For the new version of the engine it has to make sure that files are compatible which is why there’s a new version of content for that version of the engine. Next release will be 4.10
You can keep working on your project in the older version while downloading the updated contents
For the workflow, that’s not a great problem, only if you REALLY need an asset from the newer version…
About the space in the disk… that’s life…
Thanks for the replies but I am sorry I still don’t get it.
What changed?
I assume the mesh and textures and motions are still the same.
What could be so different that it would require downloading the entire package again
Or is it that the format of everything is driven by market availability of new version creation tools
Like Maya 3DS Mudbox etc. because if that’s true then it just made creation a lot more expensive
due to having to update all that software as well.
Thanks
It’s the asset options, there’s a number of things that can change in the editor between versions where settings on the assets need to be adjusted. Or even improvements that can be done–like the new lightmap UV generation system or the improved collision generation.
