I am new to the whole modding ark thing. But I am wanting to learn. I read all all faqs on the site. And nothing really helped me that much. But I was wondering if someone wouldn’t mind helping me. I want to mod the charcoal stacks and a few other things. And I am not 100% sure on how to start or even where to start. If someone wouldn’t mind explaining and taking me under there wing I would deeply appreciate it.
Hi Blue, I am in the same canoe as you, just slightly up ahead to the left ;p
I have been running around in circles for the last few months wanting to mod some things in ARK. The key thing, for me was to go and do the UE4 tutorials, if you don’t have a basic understanding of the game engine itself then trying to do anything is 1000 times harder.
Once I did those, I did this video and was able to create my first yay it works Map, so excited! Sure its a box and some coloured light reflections but its a start!
From here I am going to try and work out how and where to find all the landscape stuff to do the things I want to do.

I’m learning the ropes myself, but I’ve already got a mod in a working state and up on the Steam Workshop called Compound Bow Plus. If you wanted to add me on Steam then I would be happy to chat with you about modding, provided you’re okay with me bouncing questions off of you when I get stuck 
If you install TeamViewer and Teamspeak (both free) then we can share screens and voice chat which speeds things up too.
