I can’t place stairs unless I’m in build mode. My Key bind is R, and I have unbinded everything that was R, yet it still won’t work. I saw the fix with disabling DNBOs, however as it is R it still won’t work. Please help.

Hello, I’m also having this issue. It’s been around a week.
Note to devs: This is when using stairs on the R key; switching to any other bind works.
I tried unbinding all R binds in the entire keybind menu. Nothing works. Tried resetting, etc.

Same situation with me. Stairs is on R and it will not enter build mode automatically. Its the only bind that wont. (MB5 for wall, Q for Floor, C for Roof all auto put me in build mode) I tried removing every single keybind in the settings that’s on R besides my stair b/c i thought it was conflicting somewhere, but it still wont work. I tried stairs on F, X and a few other keys and with these binds it does auto put you in build mode, so its clearly something wrong with the R input. PLEASE FIX

Exact same issue for me. I can’t place stairs via ‘R’ unless I’m already in build mode. I was just messing around with my build keybinds for science today, and now I’m totally screwed! This is pretty devastating to me, as I’ve put hundreds of hours into the game with ‘R’ for stairs.
To repro this, first reset your keybinds to default, then set stairs to ‘R’, then try to build outside of build mode. It’s busted. Please please fix!

The same is happening with me as my R key is no longer working for stairs and I cant build a stairs. Please FIx!!

still not fixed i litterally unbinded every single key and it still does the same thing

This issue is still present. It extends to every build piece you try to bind to “R”. You cannot build them unless you’re in build mode.
Steps to recreate:
- Reset keybinds
- Bind any build piece (Wall, Floor, Roof, stairs) to “R”
- Tap R - Build piece blueprint will not pull out unless in build mode
The only workaround I can think of is rebinding the R key on your keyboard with software. I set my “R” key to “Z”, and bound “Z” to stairs in Fortnite
Same happened to me the “r” key seems to be hard coded in some way and you can’t place any build binded on that key unless on build mode, Epic pls fix
Hello Epic, long time Fortnite player here, an OG. I reset key binds and to my dismay now when I tried to reset my keys to my old key binds R will not place stairs unless I’m already in build mode. As a player who’s been playing for years with my stairs as R, this makes building impossible. Please please please developers help fix this bug!!! Thank you so much. I have done all the troubleshooting and there is a serious issue here.
