I’ve looked at Unreal’s requirement page but it doesn’t give a whole lot of info on exactly what you should have so i was wondering if my laptop would be powerful enough to run UE4 and create a game in it.
It can run but you’re gonna have to lower the settings a lot, maybe Medium-Low settings. If you don’t mind that, then you should be good to go. It’s still very usable!
Well thanks for you’re guys input, I’m presuming my processor is too weak and I need a bit more RAM so that’s going to be a issue with my laptop. Would it perform any better with Win 7? And if any one else can, please leave if you think my laptop can run UE4 fine.
Well if your a serious developer then Unreal 4 is not going to be the only application that you will need to use in real time. There have been times I’ve been running 4-5 heavy duty applications at the same time while watching NetFlic’s while downloading the latest UE4 update. ;).
The main issue with that laptop is the lack of a dedicated graphics card. UE4 is a game engine, you need a gaming GPU to get decent performance out of it.
Everything about this machine is on the low end. The specs of this laptop look more like a Facebook surfing machine more than a game development setup, it’ll probably struggle to run CSGO in medium settings.
Well, you already have the laptop, if you have internet as well, you should definitely try.
You will be able to launch the program, probably move around smaller scenes okay as long as quality is low. What kind of hope are you trying to accomplish?
As a side machine there are probably uses for your laptop, but once you more than a little ambitious, you will need another machine. The Core i3-5020U - The U means it is extra low power, no idea of the graphical capabilities, but I know my laptop with an i7 gen 4 doesn’t run much with just internal graphics.
