I have a iMac from 2014, whit those specs:
CPU 3,2 GHz Intel Core i5 quad-core
RAM 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1 GB
Could it run unreal engine?
I would need it just to add a background with a gif and a polygon modeled in the shape of a hood!
Hey there @DomDotCom3008, welcome to the community!
You’re relatively close to the requirements on all sides you listed, your GPU is going to be your weakest link. Unreal can get a little thirsty for Vram. That said you’ll be able to run it, but likely have to reduce the scalability as well as you probably won’t be able to handle Lumen or the new shadows without dropping frames, so likely going to have to disable them if you have problems. Apples site says that all iMacs post 2012 used metal, but that’s all the information it gave. As long as that graphics card is compatible with Metal 1.2 and you’ve got the latest MacOS Monterey, you should be able to run UE5 , but it definitely will be a bit sluggish. Worst case scenario, you may need to use UE4, as it’s a little lighter on older systems.
Here’s the official documentation on minimum requirements. You want to swap over to MACOS when you look over there.
