Yeah, I have a late 2011 MBP with some modifications that i did:

2,2 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Ati Radeon HD 6750M de AMD 512 MB GDDR5
SSD Crucial M4

It works fine in Mavericks and in Windows 8.1 (bootcamp partition). Sometimes it runs a little bit low on fps because of the graphic card (512MB is not really good).
I’m almost sure that with that graphic card, 16GB and the i7 will run great

PD: maybe some other guys own a new MBP, this is the computer I use when I’m abroad

It will run it, but not that powerful–mostly due to the graphics card. You could get more power on a Windows PC, but you would still need a Mac if you were developing for iOS.

For game development I recommend a Mac desktop over a Macbook and with the best graphics card you can equip it with vs 2 separate cards because UE4 does not support SLI.

Hi!

Yeah, not really fast running on my MBP 8gb RAM with Intel Iris and i5 - you’ll AT LEAST, be able to complete the tutorials, develop not really heavy games and play around without problems - with not Epic settings it runs really smoothly as well ;D

Kind Regards.

I should add the condition, depends on what you are developing for… iOS? MBP should be fine. AAA title? -go with my first response.

A bit late to this party/thread (came here thru google).
I’ve been running Unreal Engine 4.8 the entire day (warm day) and my fan seems absolutely wasted.
Hadn’t noticed it during the day cause I had music on , but now , in the evening , when all is quiet , my macbook pro seems to have picked up a new (ticking/rotating) sound in the fan. Not sure if it’s temporary.
Just did a reboot and it’s still there.
And, rest assured, my macbook was almost soundless before I started playing around in UE.

Also , when I boot unreal engine , the process eats about 600% of my cpu … especially during lightmass calculations.

So - not sure if I’ll be running UE again on my macbook… seems to put the hardware in too much strain …
